After its success in 2016, which saw 13,200 children introduced to tennis, Tennis for Kids is returning and will be bigger and better and it’s coming to Wells Tennis Club!  The initiative that saw such a great response after smashing it’s target of 10,000 new players to the sport last year will be offered at Wells Tennis Club and run by Performance Team Coach Kevin Durney.

Head Coach Kevin Durney and GB captain Leon SmithTo run the course I attended a one day workshop run by the LTA.  As part of the programme the LTA bring in inspirational coaches in British tennis and on this occasion our coach got to work with Leon Smith Captain of Team GB.

It was a great experience being on court and sharing ideas with a coach of Leons level.  Meeting coaches like this doesn’t happen very often so I think myself lucky that I had the opportunity to learn from him.

Kevin Durney and Dan Bloxham Another inspirational coach I had already met on the level 5 master club coach course was the Head Coach of the All England Club Dan Bloxham.  You may have also seen Dan on the TV as he walks the players out onto court at Wimbledon.

His big message that he runs with everyday he steps on court is “Energy!”  It was great meeting Dan again, as well as being a great coach he has some great stories from the top of the game.

News will be coming soon of how to book onto the 6 week FREE course with a bonus for completing 4 out of the 6 weeks you get a brand new tennis racket to continue our great game.
