Wimbledon Draw Results
A select group gathered at the Football Club after tennis on Thursday 16 April for a social drink and to take part in the Wimbledon draw. Due to the change in the way the LTA are issuing tickets to Clubs this year, there was a reduction in the number of tickets allocated to Wells TC, 15 instead of the 19 we had last year. This was due to the OPT-IN process whereby all eligible members 9 and over now have to OPT-IN to the draw each year. The amount of tickets each Club gets is now based on the number of OPT-INS.
30 members applied for tickets, so all 30 were drawn out of the hat (in this case a Cowboy hat!) as reserves are always needed depending on people’s choices still being available. Then an email was sent to the lucky winners and so far 14 have been accepted, with 1 still to reply to me. For those of you who were unlucky, try again next year and a plea to everyone to opt-in later this year so hopefully we will get more tickets next year.
