The New Autumn Coaching Programme starts Monday 8th September

Wells Tennis Club offers a fun and engaging coaching programme for juniors (ages 5–17) and adults, designed to support development both on and off the court. Juniors can join weekday or weekend sessions, with coaches ensuring each player is placed in the right group. Adults are welcome at all levels, from beginners and returners to league and social players. New participants are encouraged to speak with our Head Coach, Kevin, before booking. To support progress between lessons, we also provide at-home practice challenges with video guidance, progress worksheets, and opportunities to connect with our coaching team and explore the competitive pathway. Simply choose one of the options below to get started.

Kids Tennis

Autumn Term 2025 (8th September – 18th December – 14 weeks)

Mini Tennis Red (5-8yrs)

The perfect introduction to tennis for young players! Using smaller courts, softer balls, and child-sized equipment, this class makes learning tennis fun and accessible. Through engaging games and activities, children will develop essential motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and an understanding of basic tennis techniques and rules. The focus is on having fun, building confidence, and fostering a love for the game in a friendly and encouraging environment.

Mini Tennis Orange (8-9yrs)

Played on a larger court with low-compression balls, children begin to develop rallying skills, tactical awareness, and consistent strokes. This group combines fun games with structured coaching to improve movement, accuracy, and decision-making. Players are encouraged to build their confidence and love for tennis in a friendly, supportive setting.

Mini Tennis Green (9-11yrs)

Mini Tennis Green is the first step in full-court play. Players use slightly faster balls and work on refining their technique, rallying skills, and match play tactics. This class helps players develop stronger strokes, movement, and strategic thinking. Fun and friendly, it’s an ideal bridge to junior tennis.

Girls in Tennis (11 – 16yrs)

This group offers a welcoming space for girls to develop their tennis skills, boost confidence, and make new friends. Sessions focus on technique, tactics, and fitness while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Fun drills, games, and match play ensure everyone improves and enjoys their time on court.

Junior Tennis T1* (11-16yrs)

This group is for players aged 11+ who are eager to develop their tennis skills further. Sessions focus on refining technique, improving consistency, and building tactical awareness for both singles and doubles play. With a mix of drills, games, and match play, players will grow their confidence, fitness, and enjoyment of the game in a fun and friendly setting.

Junior Tennis T2* (14yrs + or by invitation)

For older juniors with more advanced skills, this group provides a challenging and dynamic environment to take their game to the next level. Sessions emphasize match tactics, precision, and consistency at a faster pace. Players will also refine their mental approach and learn to adapt under pressure, all while enjoying the camaraderie of peers in a fun and focused atmosphere.

ADULT FOUNDATION COURSE – Level 1

Level 1: Beginner – Intermediate.  Perfect for those new to tennis or returning to the game after a break, this class builds confidence and foundational skills. Players will learn proper technique for basic strokes, court positioning, and the rules of the game. Sessions are fun and relaxed, aimed at helping players transition to social tennis with ease and enjoyment.

ADULT COACH AND PLAY – Level 2

Level 2: Improver – Intermediate.  Designed for players comfortable with social tennis and entry-level league play, this class focuses on refining strokes, improving consistency, and developing tactical awareness. Players will enjoy drills, match play, and situational coaching to build confidence and competitive skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

ADULT COACH AND PLAY – Level 3

Level 3: Advanced.  This high-intensity session is for strong league players seeking to sharpen their game. Emphasis is placed on advanced techniques, fast-paced drills, and strategic match play scenarios. Players will enhance their speed, power, and decision-making, all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow competitors in a challenging and fun atmosphere.

CARDIO TENNIS – Levels 1-3

A high-energy workout designed for all fitness levels, Cardio Tennis combines tennis drills, dynamic movement, and upbeat music to raise your heart rate and boost your fitness for tennis and everyday life. Sessions focus on engaging drills, fast-paced games, and plenty of calorie-burning fun, all set to a lively soundtrack. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the sport, this is a great way to improve stamina and agility. Please note: This is an intense, high-energy session. If you have any medical concerns, consult your doctor and coach before booking to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

PLEASE READ: Players who attend Wells Tennis Club for coaching (Term Time) are required to be members of Wells Tennis Club.  This can be done via our join us page and can be paid yearly or monthly.

*Junior Tennis is split into two levels: Tier 1(T1) is for newer players who are new to the game or have played some competition.  Tier 2 (T2) is for our stronger competitive juniors from competitive match players to county level.  The Saturday junior session is an open to all session (both T1 and T2).  If you are unsure please get in touch with Head Coach Kevin Durney 

All coaching sessions are are run by accredited coaches.  All LTA accredited coaches are DBS checked, first aid trained and attend regular courses and checks for safeguarding for all.  Any equipment needed can be provided and players should bring a drink (and a small snack if playing in a holiday camp session) and wear comfortable sports clothing suitable for the weather at the time and non-studded shoes (no astros, normal trainers or tennis shoes).
