League Match Complaints and Behaviour Procedure

All members of Wells Tennis Club are subject to the Code of Conduct as displayed on North Somerset Tennis League website and our own website. Both follow the recommended Lawn Tennis Association Code of Conduct.

If a complaint is made about a team’s behaviour during a North Somerset Tennis League match the NSTL Committee will investigate and take action. The NSTL Committee has the power to fine, deduct points, suspend or expel any club or player for a breach of NSTL Rules or Code of Conduct prejudicial to the league.

If an allegation of abuse, poor practice or behaviour that goes against the Code of Conduct is made by a player or by another club or team then it should be reported to Wells Tennis Club Team Capt and/or Men’s /Ladies Capts or Welfare Officer.

If the matter is a safeguarding issue, then the appropriate line of action will be taken in accordance with Wells Tennis Club’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

Things to consider:

Was there an official complaint?
Who was the complaint from?
Who was involved?
What actually took place?

Action to be followed:

  1. An informal, firm chat with individual concerned from either the Wells Team Capt and/ or Men’s/Ladies Capt

A panel of 3 Wells Tennis Club Committee members will make the decision if the next actions are appropriate:

  1. If behaviour continues or if deemed necessary, the individual could be suspended from competing for a set time in matches
  2. If serious, revocation of membership and ban

The club member concerned will be informed of outcome.
