Clubhouse Development

Wells Tennis Club is currently fundraising for a Clubhouse. We are building a space to meet the current and future needs of members, spectators, parents and visitors. A great place to socialise and support our tennis community.

Having reviewed multiple clubhouse options from a wide range of suppliers we settled on a turn-key modular design from Home Garden Rooms (HGR). We liked their modern design and service offering. Visiting one of their completed builds and their factory in Stafford confirmed our decision to appoint HGR in May 2026 and start the planning process. How long the planning process will take is hard to estimate.

This summer we want to complete the preparation for the clubhouse location by expanding our space to the rear of the current cabin. In support of this, the Football Club have kindly agreed to a relocation of their storage units and goalposts.

Once planning is approved and sufficient funds secured, we can book HGR to build our clubhouse. Although HGR has a busy pipeline of builds in 2026, their construction time is only 6-8 weeks. Therefore, if both planning approval and sufficient funds can be secured this summer, it is not inconceivable our clubhouse will be completed in 2026 or early 2027.

How close are we to our £150K target?

As the graphic shows, we are making good progress but still have a way to go. There are many paths up our fundraising mountain. Some are steep and short, while others are easier but take longer. By using all of these, and with member’s support, we are confident in reaching our goal.

How can you help?

We are very grateful to the many club members, and the wider community, who have supported our fundraising efforts so far. Many of the ways that members can help are shown below. Make a donation

Several members have made generous donations to our Clubhouse Fund. You too can make a direct donation with a bank transfer to the club account with your surname and ‘clubhouse’ as the reference.

Support our fundraising events

The events we run, such as the excellent quiz night in April and the French Tournament in June, they are not just fun ways to connect with fellow members but an excellent way to contribute to the Clubhouse Fund. Please look out for future events and ways to support your club.

Lend to the club for 3 or 4 years by purchasing a £1,000 Clubhouse Bond

The 30 Clubhouse Bonds will be a vital source of funds on top of donations and grants. So far 21 Bonds have been snapped up by members, leaving 9 Bonds remaining to be allocated. To register your interest please complete the Clubhouse Bond Form here.

Easyfundraising

We are applying to multiple third party sources of grants. If you are aware of a potential grant source please let a committee member know. So far we have explored grants from the following: LTA, c106, Wells Parish Council, Clarks Foundation, Sports England, Persimmon, Biffa
