New Programme New Era

Thriving in Tennis

We’re delighted to welcome you to our Player Development Programme.

To get started, simply 1) complete the enrolment fee and 2) registration form. The form allows us to get to know you both as a player and as a person, covering essential player information, interests, motivations and goals, and a on the children’s registration a Player Promise that reflects our shared commitment to effort, learning and personal growth.

Once enrolled, there is no need to re-register each term. Membership continues throughout the year, creating a simple and consistent experience for families while supporting long-term development. Our programme runs during term time and is designed around sustained progress rather than short coaching blocks. To accommodate the occasional absence, we have already factored three missed sessions per year into our membership model.

Below, you’ll find more information about our coaching philosophy, how we support player development through the Thriving Framework, and our terms and conditions.

A Developmental Philosophy and Performance Pathway for Tennis

Thriving represents a player’s overall development as both a performer and a person. It combines meaningful progress and performance satisfaction with a strong sense of purpose, growth, identity, and connection.

Compete describes how a player responds when performance matters. Success is defined not simply by results, but by behaviours such as effort, intent, resilience, emotional control, and accountability.

Strong competitors remain present under pressure, respond constructively to setbacks, and consistently demonstrate behaviours that support long-term development.

Solve reflects a player’s ability to read the game, recognise patterns, make decisions, and adapt to changing situations.

Effective problem solvers identify relevant information, anticipate opponent behaviour, and adjust their thinking and tactics as conditions evolve. Rather than relying on fixed solutions, they develop adaptable responses to the challenges presented by the game.

Perform represents a player’s ability to execute effectively in competition. It includes movement, athleticism, technique, and consistency under pressure.

Performance is judged by functionality rather than aesthetic perfection; the key question is how effectively movement and technique support successful play. Players who perform well move efficiently, maintain control under pressure, and adapt their actions to the demands of the situation.

Coaching Programme ts & Cs

Please take a moment to read our Terms & Conditions, which outline important information about coaching, payments, attendance, and cancellations. If you have any questions, please contact us at wellstccoaching@gmail.com.

Individual lessons are booked separately from the group coaching programme. We kindly ask that players provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel an individual lesson.

Where more than 24 hours’ notice is given, every effort will be made to rearrange the lesson, subject to coach availability. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson will be charged in full.

If an individual lesson is cancelled by the coach due to illness, adverse weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, an alternative lesson, credit, or refund will be offered.

Our coaching fees are calculated across the year and include an allowance for up to three sessions annually that may be lost due to adverse weather, coach illness, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
As this allowance has already been factored into the annual programme fee, refunds, credits, or replacement sessions will not normally be offered for the first three coach-cancelled sessions in any coaching year.

In effect, players benefit from these sessions being included within the programme structure at no additional cost.

Should the number of coach-cancelled sessions exceed three during the year, Wells Tennis Club will review the circumstances and may, at its discretion, offer a replacement session, credit, or alternative arrangement. We will always endeavour to notify players of any cancellations as early as possible.

At Wells Tennis Club, we are committed to delivering high-quality tennis coaching in a professional, enjoyable, and supportive environment. Our coaching programmes are provided by experienced, LTA-accredited coaches and are designed to offer consistent year-round development for players of all ages and abilities.
Places within our coaching programme are secured through a recurring monthly Direct Debit. The annual cost of coaching is spread evenly across the year, allowing players to benefit from a consistent monthly payment regardless of the number of sessions in any particular month. By enrolling in the programme, players agree to maintain their Direct Debit payments until notice is provided in accordance with these terms and conditions.
As coaching groups are planned in advance and places are reserved for individual players, missed sessions do not qualify for refunds, credits, or replacement sessions unless otherwise stated within this policy.

Places within our coaching programme are non-transferable. If a player is unable to attend a particular session, their place may not be passed, sold, or transferred to another person. Any player wishing to join the programme must register directly through Wells Tennis Club and be allocated to an appropriate coaching group.

Should you wish to withdraw from the coaching programme, we require a minimum of 30 days’ written notice. Direct Debit payments will continue throughout the notice period.

As places within our coaching programme are limited and coaching groups are carefully structured, refunds cannot be provided for sessions that fall within this notice period.

In exceptional circumstances, such as a long-term injury or illness that prevents participation, the Head Coach may review the situation and make a decision at their discretion.

These policies are in place to help ensure the smooth and fair operation of our coaching programme for all participants. Coaching places are limited, and each place is reserved specifically for the individual player enrolled in that group.

Our coaches are professional service providers whose sessions, court bookings, and programme delivery are planned well in advance. We therefore ask that players and parents respect the commitment required to maintain a high-quality coaching programme.

All coaching sessions at Wells Tennis Club are delivered by fully qualified, LTA-accredited coaches who hold current DBS certification, First Aid qualifications, and Safeguarding and Child Protection accreditation.

Members of our coaching team also undertake ongoing professional development to ensure coaching standards remain up to date and in line with current best practice. Wells Tennis Club reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions where necessary. Any significant changes will be communicated to participants in advance wherever possible.
