Ladies Singles
In a strongly contested match, Linda Hall and Sarah Townsend battled hard in the first set with long, skillful rallies and some hard hitting from Townsend. However, the backhand slice and experience of Hall gave her the first set 6-3. The second set was another tense affair with thrilling winners combined with a few edgy errors, but eventually Hall managed to overcome Townsend’s spirited opposition to triumph 6-3.
Mixed Doubles
The Mixed doubles followed with the pairing of Club Chairman, Brian Clarke and Cathy Cudmore pitted against Club Coach, Kevin Durney and Julia Nest. In a thrilling three set encounter with an array of hard hitting, drop-shots, lobs and volleys, Kevin and Julia managed to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Mens Doubles
After a short break, opponents Brian and Kevin teamed up to play the Men’s doubles against single’s champion Matt and Marcus Fisher. Again this produced another three set fight-out with exciting rallies, smashes and some excellent serving resulting in a win for Kevin and Brian 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
The Ladies Doubles result
