Davis Cup Trophy Tour
The Davis Cup Trophy is making over 1000 appearances at tennis venues over Great Britain. I was very lucky to see this magnificent trophy when I was invited to help at the Berkshire events, held at Reading University Tennis Centre and Bradfield College Tennis Centre on May 27th. I used to play Junior and Senior County tennis for Berkshire before moving to Somerset.

Each tier and punch bowl came separately stored in secure containers and the men had to wear gloves so as not to get fingerprints on plagues. The trophy is currently 110cm high, 107 in diameter at it’s widest point and weighs 105 kg.
The trophy dates back to 1900 when the event began as a competition between USA and GB.
Both the winning and losing team names are inscribed on a silver plague.
During the day tennis coaches organised activities for adults and Juniors and local primary schools were invited to participate. At each venue a professional photographer was on hand to take photos as a memento.
