New coach boosts team at Wells Tennis Club

Wells Tennis Club has welcomed Tomas Simko to the coaching team this month in response to rising numbers at the club.

Tomas is now working with head coach Kevin Durney to provide children’s and adults group and individual tuition, both for those who want to improve their game and complete beginners. He will be a familiar face for some as he coached at the club several years ago.

Tomas started his coaching career in Slovakia and represented his university team in Bratislava.  He is following his father’s career in tennis coaching who is still very active in the sport at the age of 80.

Tomas said:

“It was a very easy decision to come back to coaching at Wells Tennis Club.  It’s great to see that it is growing and I hope to see more beginners and returners to the game get on court this summer.  I believe that coaches should also be active players so I’m already taking part in doubles matches to help the club this season in the North Somerset League.”

Wells Tennis Club is taking part in the Great British Tennis Weekend when free activities are available all day on Saturday 2nd July.
