Fine playing for annual shield

Twenty members of Wells Tennis Club enjoyed some fine tennis, weather and cake on Sunday 1st October for the annual President vs Chair Shield.

In glorious sunshine random sets of mixed doubles played for either team.  Over three hours each pair played nine games per match across five rounds.  Many were very closely fought with eight scores of the matches reaching a conclusion of 5 – 4.

President Tasha Smith said:

“Everyone enjoyed a fine afternoon of friendly tennis.  Thank you to everyone who came along, including a few spectators.”

The President’s team gained a clear winning final score of 130 games to 92.
