Rain Can’t Stop a Fantastic Day of Junior Tennis

This Sunday saw a wet but very well-attended LTA U14 tournament at Wells Tennis Club, welcoming talented girls and boys from across the South West. Despite the damp start, spirits were high and the standard of tennis was superb throughout the afternoon.

We were especially proud to see five players representing Wells Tennis Club—a fantastic turnout for our juniors.

A huge congratulations to Emilia, who shone, and won the girls’ event, and to Harry, who battled brilliantly to reach the semi-finals of the boys’ draw. Well done also to Charlie, who showed great resilience and skill to take home the boys’ consolation final victory.

Tournament referee Anna praised the club’s facilities, noting how valuable the artificial clay courts were:

“If they had been hard courts, I would probably have had to cancel after all the rain, but I knew Wells’ courts would be fine and safe to play on.”

Fortunately, the weather cleared, and players enjoyed a full afternoon of competitive tennis.

A big thank-you to all players, parents, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the event such a success. Events like these highlight the strength and spirit of our junior programme—well done, everyone!
