Wells A vs Cheddar B

Wells A travelled the short distance to take on Cheddar B on Sunday.  It was a match of two halves with extremely challenging weather conditions to begin, which eventually calmed to a lovely winter day!

With that in mind both ladies and men struggled to gain rhythm at the start but ladies pair Marie Bruckshaw and Julia Nest took their rubber in two sets with some testing rallies.  Men’s pair Jack Williams and Tom Wilson fought hard in a three set battle and sadly only lost out on the rubber in a tie break.

With the weather much more clement the mixed matches began and first pair Bruckshaw and Williams powered through to take their rubber in a clean two sets.  Nest and Wilson had to dig in having lost a tight first set but once they raised their intensity there was no stopping them, taking the next two sets and the rubber.

Wells A took overall victory 9-3.  Captain Nest was proud of her team’s attitude in adverse conditions and the whole team were thrilled with their win and a good points gain.
