Wells Ladies on Tour
Ten ladies from Wells Tennis Club travelled to the English Riviera on Sunday 25th March for the annual match against the ladies of Torquay Tennis Club. The yearly spectacle takes place to celebrate the connection the two clubs have, as Wells Head Coach, Kevin Durney, used to Coach at Torquay.
Cheered on by Kevin and Wells President, Tasha Smith, the doubles match was played in a round robin format in the beautiful sunshine at Torquay. With Wells winning the last two years, Torquay were keen to seal the trophy this time which sparked a great rallies.
At the end of almost three hours of great tennis the winners were announced and with determination Wells managed to retain the trophy for another year!
Wells Ladies’ Captain, Julia Nest said: “I’d like to thank Torquay Head Coach, Tracy, and her team of ladies for a brilliant time, wonderful tennis and an amazing tea to finish off the day. Both teams look forward to another exciting match again next year to be held at Wells.”
