Windy start to the season

This week was the start of the Summer League for those clubs participating in the North Somerset League. Seven of our eight teams were in action.

Monday night is time for the men to pick up their rackets and stretch their limbs. It was a tough week. Matt Stevens and Tom Devesa fought hard against last year’s champions, Clevedon, in the A Team to give Wells some points. A nailing biting last match which they won on a championship tie breaker 11-9. The B, C and D teams didn’t get the wins they hoped for this week, but the week after next is another week to shine!

Tuesday was a challenge, incredibly strong winds meant none of the ladies felt they weren’t playing tennis but just trying to beat the elements more effectively than their opponents! Ever flexible there was jiggling of all teams as one our key players fell ill last thing Tuesday afternoon. So, with players in place the ladies took to court to do their best. All teams secured points and like the men aim to start afresh in May and get wins under their belts.
