Strong Showing for Wells Junior Players
Wells Tennis Club was delighted to host an LTA Grade 5 Under-14 Boys’ tournament on Sunday, attracting 12 entrants from across the region, including an impressive five players representing Wells Tennis Club.
The event provided a fantastic day of competitive match play, with Wells players performing strongly throughout the tournament. Both quarter-finalists from the club showcased excellent determination and skill, highlighting the strength of the club’s growing junior programme.
One of the standout matches of the day saw Wells player Charlie face fellow club member Ethan in a thrilling contest for a place in the quarter-finals. The closely fought match lasted an incredible 1 hour and 40 minutes and kept spectators on edge throughout. After a nail-biting tie-break finish, Charlie narrowly secured victory with a dramatic 10–8 win.
The tournament continued with high-quality tennis across the later rounds, with Stefano eventually crowned tournament winner following an excellent performance throughout the day. Congratulations also go to Harry from Wells Tennis Club, who finished as runner-up after an impressive run to the final.
Overall, the tournament was a great success and provided valuable match practice and competitive experience for all players involved. Wells Tennis Club would like to thank everyone who took part and supported the event, helping to create another enjoyable and positive day of junior tennis.
