Champions of the Future
This Sunday, Wells Tennis Club hosted not one but two LTA-sanctioned junior tournaments, expertly organised and refereed by Anna Hay. Despite the wet and windy conditions, young players showed true grit and determination as they took to the courts for the Under 9s and Under 11s competitions.
Competitors travelled from across the region—including Wells, local Somerset clubs, and as far afield as Manchester and Buckinghamshire. For several players, it was their very first taste of LTA tournament play—an exciting milestone, and a big congratulations to all who stepped up to compete.
In the Under 9s event, Danial put in a fantastic performance to finish as runner-up, while Zara claimed the winner’s title—well done to both! The Under 11s saw Harry take runner-up honours, with Rohan emerging as the overall winner—congratulations!
These junior tournaments offer a brilliant opportunity for young players to gain valuable match experience in a supportive, competitive setting.
