Cheddar U14 Boys Singles
Calum Jessett (age 12) of Wells Tennis Club and Millfield Prep School played the top seed in Sunday’s final after winning 2 matches to progress to the final. The first set went Calum’s way 4-1 but the set was very competitive, with long high quality rallies throughout. Calum managed to win most of the first set key points and was particularly clinical with short balls – which is an area of his game he’s been working on.
The second set followed a similar pattern but fatigue was also a factor. Both boys were feeling drained by the heat of the sun but Calum managed to build the points more efficiently and as a result did less of the running. Calum won the second set 4-1 and the match and was presented with his first U14 Singles winners medal.
Great work Calum, looking strong for the summer.
