Strong start for Wells A in the Winter League

Wells A managed to dodge the rain to host Wedmore C in their first match of the Mixed Winter League on Sunday.

The Men’s pairing of Jack Williams and Tom Wilson worked well as a team and took their rubber in two sets against the Wedmore men.  The ladies, Marie Bruckshaw and Julia Nest, were in complete contrast and fought out a long and arduous rubber, finally prevailing in three sets.

With the sun finally coming out, the mixed matches began and there was no stopping first pair Bruckshaw and Williams, as they powered through their rubber, only dropping 3 games throughout.  Once again in contrast, Nest and Wilson, went the whole hog and the rubber ended in a tie break in the third, which the Wedmore pair just took but a good battle was had.

Wells A secured overall victory 9-3. 

Captain Nest was thrilled with her team and with some new pairings bedding in it is looking positive for the rest of the season in Division 4 of the North Somerset Tennis League.
