Wells A vs Wells B, The Rematch
It was another titanic battle between Wells A and Wells B, as the North Somerset Tennis League resumed after the Christmas break.
With the first meeting ending in an epic draw, all was to play for as the two teams locked horns once again!
Wells B men’s pair of Dave Mills and Neil Coleman took an early lead over Wells A Jack Williams and David Cotton in a tight three set battle. The men then had to put their feet up while the women had a drawn out affair. Wells B Caroline Moule and Ginni Smith we’re not deterred when Wells A Marie Bruckshaw and Julia Nest took the first set, they stood strong and took the second but the momentum switched back and the A Team eventually won in three long sets.
Onto the mixed matches and it was a replay between B’s Moule and Mills and A’s Bruckshaw and Williams. Many exciting rallies were had but the A Team just had the upper hand to take the rubber in two sets. Second pair Smith and Coleman took on Nest and Cotton. With energy levels and light fading it was a close rubber but the A Team just edged it.
Wells A won 9-3 but this did not reflected the great play Wells B brought to the match. All players headed home to put their feet up after a memorable battle.
