What a Winter Season at Wells TC – TRIPLE PROMOTION!
The A Team
Congratulations to Wells A team, Marie Bruckshaw (capt), Wendy Edwards, Mark Preston & Tom Wilson,
for finishing top of the table after playing back to back matches at the end of the season Captain Marie said, “we have had a great winter season, lots of laughs & really enjoyed our tennis this year and we are all looking forward to the challenge of Division 2 next year. A big thank you to Kevin Durney, Dave Mills & Caroline Moule for being super subs.”
The B Team
The B Team had a really tough but enjoyable Winter League Season. We had 3 teams all battling it out for promotion in division 5 this year and it came down to the very last match for Wells to secure second place by just 1 point! This made it a hat trick of Wells teams promoted – A’s, B’s and C’s all rising up a division next year. Captain Dave said, “I’d like to thank all the players who gave up their time and who played so gallantly to ensure our success. Well done Wells, a very fine performance all round!”
The C Team
The Wells C team had a bit of a slow start to the winter season but very quickly started to pick up results and by the mid-point, we realised a strong finish would offer a great chance at promotion for the new team. Good performances ensured promotion with a couple of matches spare and ultimately finishing in 2nd place. Captain Matt reports, “the C Team was created this season to provide more of our players at the club a chance to play some league during the winter, and this varied in age from our more seasoned vets down to some of our up-and-coming junior players, either way, is a great way to spend a Sunday morning playing other people who also love the game. A massive thank you to all involved with the team for making it through the cold and rainy season, bring on the sunshine for the summer league.”
