Wells A had a bit of a tussle in their match against Bridgwater B on Sunday 14th November.
Ladies pair Marie Bruckshaw and Julia Nest took a game or two to get into their rhythm against the steady Bridgwater duo but once established they took the rubber in two nice sets. Not to be out done, Men’s pair Mark Preston and Tom Wilson had some good rallies against the father and son duo from Bridgwater and eased a two set win.
In the mixed matches second pair Marie Bruckshaw and Mark Preston had a jitter or two whilst leading the first set and a fight back from the opposition meant they had to remain focused to close the set out 7-5. After this small blip, they powered away in the second set and took the rubber in style. First pair of Julia Nest and Tom Wilson began solidly, taking the first set but then a tussle ensued! Bridgwater fought back with their rhythm changing tennis and took the second set, leaving it to a third set decider. Julia and Tom showed good resilience by keeping their cool and playing effective tennis, finally stretching their necks to the winning post and taking the set and rubber.
