Winter league round up

We have now reached the end of a long winter league season where our three teams have battled hard and promotion has been achieved for two of the teams.

The A team went into the final match against Winscombe with both teams fighting for promotion and two points needed for Wells A to secure it. The weather was difficult with rain, hail and sun but Jake and Cy secured the two points in the Mens doubles. Closes rubbers else where meant a narrow 7-4 defeat in the match but the team had done enough to climb up into Division 1 next year.

The B team went into their final match with a four point deficit to overturn on Cheddar. The match was at home to Victoria and Wells but in a strong performance to win 8-3 but it unfortunately was not enough with Cheddar gaining a 10-2 win against already promoted Trull. Therefore, after a very close league which was reduced to 5 teams after Wringtons mid-season withdrawal, it is relegation to Division 4 for Wells B.

The C team had already done enough to secure promotion before their final game at Trull which ended in defeat. The C team have now secured back to back promotions after forming last season to climb to Division 7.
