Wells Tennis Club Match Report – Week of June 23rd

It’s been another action-packed week of tennis for Wells Tennis Club, with both the Men’s and Ladies’ teams out in full force. Monday and Tuesday saw thrilling performances, some nail-biting finishes, and a strong showing across the board as the teams pushed for league glory.

Men’s Teams – Monday 23rd June

Men’s A vs. Woodland A (Home) – 10-1 Win
A spectacular result for the Men’s A team (Matt S, Mark, Matt G and Kevin) who battled hard on home turf to clinch a 10-1 victory over Woodland A. The tie was decided in dramatic fashion with a final set tie-break, showcasing the grit and teamwork of the squad. This crucial win now sees the A team sitting proudly at the top of the league.

Men’s B vs. Avenue C (Away) – 9-3 Win
Jake, Matt B, Tom, and Marcus delivered a confident performance away at Avenue C. Their 9-3 win was a testament to their solid play and synergy, securing another valuable set of points in the standings.

Men’s C vs. Avenue D (Home) – 8-4 Win
The Men’s C team (JC, Dave, Karl, and Colin) continued their steady form with an 8-4 win at home against Avenue D. The team showed composure and consistency throughout to claim a well-earned victory.

Men’s D vs. Woodland C (Away) – 2-10 Loss
It was a challenging evening for the Men’s D team (Sean, Matt J, Gary and Alex), who faced Woodland C at a leisure centre. Despite their efforts, they suffered a 10-2 loss in a match disrupted by interruptions. A tough outing, but plenty to build on moving forward.

Ladies’ Teams – Tuesday 24th June

Ladies A vs. Victoria (Home) – 3-8 Loss
Wendy, Izzy, Corali, and Vicky faced strong opposition from Victoria in a home match. Despite some tight sets and good individual performances, the Ladies A side fell 8-3 in what was a hard-fought contest.

Ladies B vs. Winscombe A (Away) – Win
The Ladies B team (Julia, Ann, Jade, and Caroline) travelled to Winscombe A and returned with a strong away victory. A solid all-round team effort secured a much-deserved win.

Ladies C vs. Clevedon C (Home) – 9-4 Win
Arabella, Chie, Binkie, and Odette put in their best performance of the season so far, notching a fantastic 9-4 win against Clevedon C. It’s a result that shows the team’s momentum is building with each week.

Ladies D vs. Avenue C (Away) – 7-4 Win
Another impressive result came from the Ladies D team (Deborah, Sue, Joyce and Clare), who took a 7-4 away win against Avenue C. The team showed great resilience and teamwork to secure a valuable win on the road.
