Winter League Round – Up

“It’s been 2 years since the NSTL Winter League has been played and Wells is back with a vengeance, with 3 teams now entered.

Wells A are playing Division 3 in this years winter league. Our team has got off to a great start. We have played four matches & have had four good wins. We currently sit at the top of the league table. Looking forward to our next match and hope to keep this good form & momentum going.

The B team start where they left off in division 4, and were away to Woodlands C in their first match back. An 8-2 win started our campaign in style.  We were next up against a very strong Victoria A, where the score was reversed 2-8. We regrouped and beat Weston A 10-1 and Cleeve A 8-4, leaving us currently 2nd in the table. We have division leaders Bridgwater B to face on Sunday – the winners of the clash will claim the top spot at the halfway point. My thanks to all the players that have fought so hard and put us on such a firm footing in division 4!”
The Wells C team had a difficult start to the season with a heavy defeat, but we have managed to turn that around by winning our next three matches with some good performances. Which at the time of writing puts the team at the top of the division and in a strong position to push for promotion in the new year.

With the increased interest in league competitive tennis at the club, the club decided to enter the C team to give more club members these opportunities. This has allowed for a good mixture of players across a range of age groups to be used in these matches, from some of the more established club members to some of the new members and young juniors.
