Summer League Tennis 2024

Men’s League

It has been a reasonable start to the summer league four our four men’s teams. A wash out on the middle game week means that some teams have played two matches and others three and the tables are unbalanced. Nevertheless all teams are mid table with plenty of tennis still to be played.

A Team:  A tough start to life in the first division with away defeats to last year champions Clevedon (8-3) and early leaders Wedmore (10-0). A handy three points at Clevedon does leave sitting 4th in the table with big games to come against those below them in the table.

B Team:  Mixed success for the B Team with home victories against Avenue (8-4) and Congresbury (8-2) sandwiching a defeat away to Cheddar (10-0). They currently sit 3rd, a positive start to a new division after promotion last year.

C Team:  Two very narrow defeats at home versus Wrignton (9-4) and Clevedon (8-5) have the C team in 4th place with a re-arranged trip to Wedmore to come this week.

D Team:  Two away matches have seen the D team draw their opener to Cheddar (5-5) and lose to Congresbury (8-3), leaving them 5th in the table. Victory in their re-arranged home game could see them climb as high as 2nd.

Ladies League

Our summer league has taken off well for the Wells Ladies teams.

Mixed results for the A team in Division 1 with a narrow win against Taunton, a great win against Minehead, and a loss against Bridgewater.

B team moved up to division 3 this year , so far securing wins against Backwell and Victoria, and are currently in a good strong position 2 within their division.

C team also moved up a division and are now in Division 4. They have played 3 matches so far, winning 2 out of 3. They currently are in a strong position 3 within their division.

D team are in division 8, having lost to Cleeve but won against avenue.

We continue to work well as teams and look forward to further matches.
