Summer League Tennis Round-up

Men’s Team report
The summer league season has drawn to a close. Unfortunately it wasn’t the desired outcome for our Mens teams with relagation for each team, despite some close and enjoyable matches.

Nevertheless the men celebrated their efforts with a curry and awards night where lots of fun was had with great food and a few beers. Awards were won as follows;
Captain’s Player of the season: Mark Preston
Player’s player of the season: Dave Mills
Top Performer of the Season: Kevin Durney
Team Performance: Wells A 9-2 Lympsham A (Mark Preston, Jack Williams, Kevin Gurney, Matthew Stevens)

We now look forward to getting back to the social sessions on a Monday evening and hope to see lots of people on court.

Ladies Team report

Wells ladies A team report: A great standard of play from most of the div 1 teams, making a good summer of tennis matches.  Wells A had some good wins and then a few zero points losses which contributed to the overall demotion to Division 2.  We finished 5th overall with 55 points.  Thank you to all who played for the A team, everyone put in 100%.

Ladies B team report: B team summer season was definitely a game of two halves. We started well with wins against Backwell, Victoria and Congresbury, but then had a run of losses. However, the team ended positively which ensured that we are in 4th position in Division 3.   A big thank you to all players who contributed to the team!

The ladies C team were promoted from 5th to 4th division this year, so we knew the matches were going to be a lot tougher. We managed to hold our own though and finished 4th, which sets us up well for next season.

D Team report: We played in Division 8 and came in 3rd place.  We used 11 players and all matches were played in good spirit.
